Durga Puja Festival - Our Grandest Annual Celebration Since 1963

The Durga Puja organized by Purbapally Unnayan Samity is the most awaited event in our community calendar. Every year, our club brings together hundreds of families from Purbapally and surrounding areas of Sodepur to celebrate this magnificent festival with devotion, artistry, and cultural pride.

From conceptualizing unique pandal themes to organizing elaborate cultural programs during the five days of Puja, our dedicated committee members and volunteers work tirelessly for months. The festival features stunning idol installations, traditional rituals, dhunuchi naach, evening cultural performances, and community feasting that strengthen the bonds of our neighbourhood.

Puja Overview

Our Durga Puja preparations begin several months ahead with the formation of dedicated sub-committees for pandal construction, idol procurement, lighting and decoration, cultural programs, food distribution, and security. The theme for each year's pandal is selected through creative discussions, often reflecting social messages, heritage themes, or artistic innovations that make our Puja a visual spectacle.

During the five days of Puja - from Shashthi to Dashami - the club premises transforms into a vibrant hub of celebrations. Morning and evening arati, pushpanjali, sandhi puja, and the emotional Dashami visarjan procession are all conducted with traditional rituals. The evenings come alive with cultural performances including classical dance, drama, songs, and comedy shows organized by local artists and invited performers.
